Unified Door and Hardware

Manufacturing Layout Engineer · Listing

I turn a set of drawings into steel. That means reading architectural and shop drawings, measuring off the CAD, and specifying where every piece of hardware preps into the door or frame, then feeding all of it into the system that generates the machine programs for the bending and cut-out operations. Hollow metal doors and frames, opening by opening. Every prep has to be right before anything is released, because a wrong dimension isn’t caught by software further down the line — it’s caught in fabricated steel.

Key work

• Picked the listing software up fast enough that I now train new hires on the workflow.
• Built the department head an error-tracking tool: Python reads the shared mailbox, tells a genuine job-release mistake from a follow-up reply, and keeps one row per incident in a live workbook. It replaced a weekly report that was being put together by hand.

Project Management Intern

Supported MEP construction projects: schedules, submittals, technical documentation and deliverables in a consulting engineering environment.

Key work

• Reviewed mechanical drawings and specifications against building systems requirements.
• Coordinated with engineers, project managers, contractors and field crews on execution, field verification and schedule adherence.
• Tracked milestones across several concurrent projects and kept engineering, management and the field talking to each other.
• Watched HVAC and piping systems, mechanical equipment installation and energy-efficiency measures go in on commercial buildings.

• Processed and distributed hundreds of packages a day while keeping inventory and tracking records accurate.
• Helped management with scheduling, onboarding and the day-to-day running of it.

• Fielded questions from prospective students and families — the first place I learned to explain something technical to someone who didn’t ask for detail.
